The LJT Experience

The History
LJT has not always been the large 6-day Texas music event it is today. 32 years ago, venues for singer/songwriters were almost non-existent. Larry Joe wanted a place for he and his friends to play their own music and to provide a music friendly environment where both the artists and fans felt a common ground. The first few festivals drew music fans from the 70's "outlaw" era or avis "chili cooks" who also happened to like original music. Many years later it became known as a springboard for many talented but unknown singer/songwriters and bands as well as staging well known artists from the past and present. Today, the Taylors and their crew continue looking for new ways to improve the fan and VIP experience, enhance the traditions of camping out, picking, singing and telling stories around a campfire, and showcasing the best original music in the nation.

The Music
Music is everywhere at LJT. The festival features a diverse lineup of songwriters and musicians every year with performances beginning at 10 am and ending...well, never. LJT packs 50+ acts onto 4 stages in 6 days, but the music continues through the night at campfire jams.

Camping & Amenities
Home sweet home! We welcome thousands of campers each year into our campgrounds at LJT. With over 400 electric & water sites, 3,000+ reserved campsites (your name on the site), plus hundreds of non-reserved sites, there's a place for everyone to crash whether you're high rolling in a bus or roughing it in a tent. Shower houses, beer store, food & merch vendors, water fill-up and sewer pumping are just some of the on-site extras that you can get while camping at LJT.

Eatsies & Shopping
Food. So much food. Not only are the festival camping grounds filled with barbeque grills, home-made smokers and crawfish boils, but each year we hand pick our food vendors so that you can enjoy a wide variety of tasty selections. Gourmet pizza, hand-dipped corn dogs, alligator tail, and fresh squeezed lemonade are just a few of the items on the menu at LJT.

Community Experience
We’ve all heard that music brings people together, right? But living on Melody Mountain Ranch together for 6 straight days creates friendships that last a lifetime. From sharing the love of music, offering a plate of food to a camping neighbor to reserving the same campsites next to each other year after year, it’s really only something you can’t explain until you’ve been there. We are all family.

VIP & Sponsor Experience
The most exclusive way to go behind the scenes and literally enjoy LJT from a different angle. Depending on your level of VIP package or sponsorship purchased, you will have access to a full-service backstage bar & restaurant, stage seating, artist meet and greets, private air-conditioned restrooms, on-site shuttle transportation between stages, Friday morning brunch, and many more perks to bring you the very best in comfort and convenience. Arguably the best seats in the house, we also have 15 upstairs suites on the main stage featuring full-service bars, bathrooms, and looking directly over the stage and into the massive crowds.

Health & Safety
We want everyone at LJT Fest to have FUN but our #1 priority is that you and your pals stay safe! We keep plenty of staff and resources on site to help ensure that you receive the help you need if something goes awry. Basic skills such as staying hydrated, securing your belongings, alcohol safety, applying sunscreen, and watching out for each other are things you learned as a kid, but just in case, we’ve put together a Mom-approved LJT Safety Checklist.

Staff
LJT would not be what it is today without our amazing LJT staff and security team. Every year we hire over 200 staff and security to help us manage the event and keep it running smoothly. In fact, many of these folks are repeat hires who have worked for us for many years. We fully train and instruct each member of our crew so that you can enjoy a friendly, organized, and safe LJT week!

Giving Back
It's an honor to be part of the community and our friends in business. We show our commitment to helping others with on-site live and silent auctions for those in need such as Davin James, Clay McClinton, victims of the West, TX explosion and the victims of Hurrican Harvey. Each year we donate to multiple charities and fundraisers, and every dollar given to the donations of our festival program goes to the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life. We like to think that creating a community where musicians and fans can connect with one another might make the world a better place for a few days, but we are always on the lookout for other ways to contribute.

The Fashion
Don't be fooled by the ladies wearing cowboy boots and cutoffs. The guys plan their outfits too, and they admit it. LJT'ers spend weeks shopping, pinning, and even making their own outfits for LJT in anticipation of debuting their hard work with their friends on the 300 acre red carpet. Anything goes at LJT...it is people watching at its finest!
